From Past to Present

As a poet, author, and speaker, Sharon Frances (formerly Chappell) has done many things, all of which inspired her to write about children and youth surviving difficult times.

  • Breast cancer survivor since 2018

  • Depression, panic and anxiety survivor since childhood

  • Bilingual K-8 teacher for six years in California and Texas.

  • Teacher educator at California State University for eleven years, specializing in language arts, visual arts integration, social justice, and bilingual education

  • Gender diversity and LGBTQ inclusion specialist in K-12 schools, trained in the Human Rights Campaign’s Welcoming Schools Program

  • Director of non-profit project, Well Beings Studio, to support families impacted by cancer through literature and the arts, for four years

  • Author and self-publisher of four children’s literature books, who donated over 6,000 copies to families, cancer support organizations, hospitals, libraries and schools.
